Texas Area Agencies on Aging (AAA)

Area Agencies on Aging is an organization that has more than 600 agencies working to serve the elderly population. They are a great source of information and support and offer help in funding program applications. In addition, as the AAAs receive direct federal funding through the Older American Act, they can assist you financially.

Community Living Assistance & Support Services (CLASS)

CLASS provides home- and community-based services to people with related conditions as a cost-effective alternative to placement in an intermediate care facility for individuals with an intellectual disability or a related condition. A related condition is a disability, other than an intellectual disability, that originated before age 22 and that affects a person's ability to function in daily life.

This site provides aging-related health information easily assessable for adults 60 and over.

The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging

The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging serves adults age 60 and older and their family caregivers who live in Collin, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, and Wise counties.

The Benefits Checkup website is a free service offered by the National Council on Aging, provided in order to improve the health and economic security of older adults. The team, responsible for the website, monitors the benefits landscape and keeps the information up to date with policy changes and programs. You enter your zip code and the type of help you’re looking for, and any available local benefits are presented to you. This may help you find the funding you need in order to buy your stairlift.

Veteran Programs

Veteran Health Administration

If you are a veteran and have served in the US military, you can apply for a stairlift grant through the VA. The VA Health Care program offers funding for medical devices (including stairlifts) that standard Medicare does not. The Guide provides information about long term care options - home and community based, and residential care.
